Evraz may invest $480 mln in production of 100-meter rails in US
MOSCOW, Oct 19 (PRIME) -- U.K.-based mining giant Evraz, which operates mainly in Russia, plans to invest U.S. $480 million in construction of a line for production 100-meter rails with an annual capacity of 600,000 tonnes at its U.S. site in the city of Pueblo, as seen by PRIME in the company’s presentation on Friday.
The company may launch the production line in October–December 2021. Currently, the Pueblo facility produces 25-meter rails, and annual production capacity stands at 530,000 tonnes.
Evraz also may invest $215 million in upgrading rail production capacities at its Evraz Nizhny Tagil Metallurgical Plant (Evraz NTMK) in 2019–2021, including an increase of capacity by 280,000 tonnes.
